NRAG calls Public Meeting to discuss Forest Hill water supply system proposed water softening treatment plant

The Newlyn Reservoir Action Group (NRAG) has called a Public Meeting to give customers and consumers on the Forest Hill water supply system the opportunity to discuss the Central Highlands Water proposal to soften the current groundwater supply.

The meeting will be held at the Kingston Community Recreation Centre on Tuesday, 19 March 2002, commencing at 8.00pm.

NRAG committee member Russell Castley said officials and Board Members of CHW have been invited to attend the public meeting.

Bore water from Forest Hill is hard and causes various problems including damage to heating elements in hot water services and other equipment. NRAG has consistently called for the Forest Hill water supply system to be returned to the Newlyn Reservoir after the installation of a water treatment plant but CHW has refused to do this.

Mr Castley said, "The public meeting will give customers and consumers on the Forest Hill water supply system the opportunity to get more details on the bore water softening treatment plant and to quiz CHW officials on their future plans for their water entitlement from the Newlyn Reservoir."

"And with the source of the future Clunes water supply still unresolved NRAG committee members would like to discuss a deferment of any final resolution on the Forest Hill water supply system until a decision on the Clunes water supply is finalised," Mr Castley said.
